A sleeping glass frog can look almost empty under a leaf in Panama.
Its skin turns clear enough that the red blood cells pull out of sight, pooling in the liver and other organs.
That sounds impossible, because blood normally needs oxygen moving through tiny vessels. But these frogs slow their heart and tuck the cells away while they rest.
When night comes, the blood returns. The frog reappears.
