On beaches in Florida and the Caribbean grows a tree you should never shelter under: the manchineel. Its milky sap can badly irritate skin.
When it rains, water dripping from the tree can carry that sap. Drops landing on bare skin can raise blisters, so you can get hurt without ever touching the tree.
That's why many manchineels carry warning signs or a painted red band.
