A mirror helped some people unclench a missing hand

After losing a hand, some people still feel it painfully clenched into a fist. In a small study, a mirror showed the remaining hand’s reflection where the missing hand seemed to be.

When patients moved their remaining hand, some felt the missing hand move too. Watching the reflection open eased the clenching for some, but not everyone.
