Each of your eyes has a blind spot. Why don't you notice it?

At the back of each eye, one small spot has no cells that detect light. It is where the optic nerve, the cable to your brain, passes through the retina, the eye's light-sensing layer.

So each eye has a blind spot, a patch of its view it cannot see.

You don't normally notice, because your brain fills in the patch using the surrounding detail and what your other eye sees.
