In 1972, a passenger plane broke apart with flight attendant Vesna Vulović inside. She fell to the ground trapped in part of the aircraft—and survived.
Guinness World Records lists her fall at more than ten kilometers without a parachute. The wreckage is thought to have helped protect her.
She remembered none of the crash, so exactly how she survived the impact remains less certain.
