Lena’s smart speaker announced that someone was in the locked bedroom. She lived alone. From behind the door, her own voice asked her to turn the key.
“Don’t turn the key,” the speaker said.
Lena left the apartment with it in her pocket. At the stairs, her phone rang. The caller was her own number. She declined it and kept walking until she reached the street.
