In the First Book of Samuel, part of the Bible, young Saul searches for his father’s lost donkeys. He asks Samuel, a prophet believed to hear from God.
The day before, the story says, God told Samuel this man would come. Samuel says the donkeys are found, then pours oil on Saul’s head: God has chosen him to lead Israel.
Later, Saul is presented to the people as king.
